Location
Pre-Cam Community School has a student population of 400 and is a kindergarten to grade 6 school in La Ronge, Saskatchewan situated on Lac La Ronge. We are the largest northern community with a population of approximately 4500. La Ronge is located in some of the most scenic geography (lakes, trees and forests) in the country, two and a half hours north of Prince Albert.
School Programs
Pre-Cam Community School has 19 classrooms and offers a kindergarten to grade six program. It is a dual track school, providing both English and French Immersion programming. The Pre-Cam Community School staff is active in implementing the province's Core Curriculum along with Northern Lights School Division initiatives. We have a professional staff of 26 and a support staff of 22. All students obtain two sessions each of Cree Language and Culture instruction; computer technology training; and physical education in each 6-day cycle. Our School Social Worker and our Student Support Worker team work together to provide a liaison between home and school and are available to assist parents with their concerns. We are also continuing with our Northern Community School concept. We have a Community School Coordinator, a Recreation Coordinator and a Nutrition Coordinator. We continue to partner with the Aboriginal Head Start program at Kikinahk on a Pre-Kindergarten program.
