Pre-Cam Community School has a student population of 400 and is a pre-kindergarten to grade 6 school in La Ronge, Saskatchewan situated on Lac La Ronge. We are the largest northern community with a population of approximately 4500. La Ronge is located in some of the most scenic geography (lakes, trees and forests) in the country, two and a half hours north of Prince Albert.
Pre-Cam Community School offers a pre-kindergarten to grade six program. It is a dual track school, providing an English program and a French Immersion program. Our students also receive instruction in Cree Language and Culture, Arts Education, and Physical Education. Our School Social Worker and our Student Support Worker team together to provide a liaison between home and school and are available to assist parents with their concerns. We have a Community School Coordinator and a Nutrition Coordinator. We also offer a Pre-K program in partnership with Aboriginal Head Start at Kikinahk as well as a Pre-K program here at Pre-Cam.
Welcome to Pre-Cam Community School! I am honoured to be working in the role of principal in the 2018-2019 school year. I wish everyone a memorable and successful year. At Pre-Cam we are committed to providing the best education to all of our students. We have a balanced program with a strong focus on developing the literacy and numeracy skills of every child.
Along with academics, our staff is committed to providing a safe and secure environment which also fosters the development of the students’ personal character traits such as responsibility, respect, and kindness. At Pre-Cam we strive to maintain excellent communication. We have a school newsletter that gets published every week, as well as a school website (precamcommunityschool.ca). To enhance our communication with families, every child has been given an agenda that contains pertinent school information and is expected to be used as a daily communication log.
I encourage parents to get involved in our Pre-Cam School Community Council. It takes a community to raise a child and we encourage the community to get involved in our school to help us make every child’s educational experience a successful one. When families become involved in their child’s learning, a child’s chance of success is increased.
At Pre-Cam Community School students, staff, and community are accepted, valued, and respected. At our school, achievement is recognized and celebrated while a professional, supportive, and collaborative staff is committed to working together. I look forward to working with all of you and wish you a successful year!
Through the strength of our diverse community, our mission is to ensure that all students reach a high level of academic achievement, measured through common assessment practices, while developing positive personal and social values and skills.
We want everyone in our school to be responsible, respectful, safe, and kind.
